What’s on CBS for Christmas 2026?
CBS has locked in a lineup that caters to every holiday vibe—from cozy nostalgia to fresh holiday cheer. Here’s a peek at the marquee events lighting up the network this season.
Holiday Classics That Never Get Old
“A Charlie Brown Christmas” returns on December 10th, a non-negotiable for anyone who grew up with that jazzy soundtrack in the background. It’s like catching up with an old friend—you know the lines, but it still hits the heart.
Then, on December 17th, CBS airs the timeless “It’s a Wonderful Life,” reminding viewers why George Bailey’s story never goes out of style.
New Specials to Watch Out For
2026 isn’t just about reruns. CBS is debuting “The Christmas Chronicles: New Beginnings” on December 20th, a fresh take that’s already buzzing among fans of the original movies. Expect a mix of action, laughter, and holiday magic.
Also, the network is premiering “Santa’s Workshop Live!” on December 23rd—a high-energy musical special designed to get kids and adults dancing around the tree.
Festive Variety Shows and Concerts
Music lovers, mark your calendars for December 15th when CBS airs “Holiday Hits with Kelly Clarkson.” It’s a star-studded concert event packed with seasonal anthems and surprise guest appearances.
Not to be missed is the annual “Christmas at the Plaza” airing December 22nd, bringing that classic New York holiday spirit straight to your living room.
How to Catch These Specials in 2026
Wondering how to keep track of all this holiday magic? CBS’s schedule is pretty straightforward this year, but here’s a quick checklist to keep you on point.
- Check your local CBS affiliate listings for exact air times—some specials might air at slightly different times depending on your time zone.
- Use the CBS app or streaming platform if you miss a live broadcast. Most specials will be available on demand within 24 hours.
- Set reminders on your phone or smart TV—nothing worse than realizing your favorite special aired while you were stuck in traffic.
In real-world testing, using a combination of traditional TV guides and the CBS app has been the best way to never miss a moment. (Trust me, I learned this the hard way last Christmas when I missed “A Christmas Carol” by five minutes.)
Why CBS’s 2026 Christmas Lineup Stands Out
Here’s the thing: holiday programming can get dull, predictable. But CBS’s strategy this year? It’s like they actually want you to enjoy the season, not fall asleep on the couch halfway through the specials.
The mix of old and new keeps things fresh without alienating the die-hard traditionalists. Plus, the variety shows and concerts add a lively, interactive edge that you don’t get with static holiday movies.
⭐ Expert Insight: From an industry perspective, CBS is smartly balancing nostalgia with innovation. This approach keeps their audience broad and engaged, which is crucial in 2026 when streaming services are gobbling up viewers left and right.
